Both the GLC and GLE are exceptionally good choices if you’re searching for a Mercedes-Benz SUV that offers premium materials, fluid design, and plenty of power under the hood. The cost-effective midsize GLC is a bit smaller than the GLE, offering space for up to five passengers, while the GLE can manage five to seven. So, which one is right for your Louisville family? Let’s take a look at a comparison of the Mercedes-Benz GLC vs. GLE to figure that out.

GLC vs. GLE: Engines & Fuel Economy

Both SUVs offer Elizabethtown drivers plenty of power from fuel-efficient engines, but the power under the hood differs just a bit:

  • Standard Engine: The GLC is powered by a 241-hp 2.0L turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine capable of producing 273 lb-ft of torque. The GLE has a 255-hp 2.0L turbocharged inline 4-cylinder motor that also produces 273 lb-ft of torque.
  • Fuel Efficiency: In EPA testing, the GLC earned a respectable 22 mpg/city and 27 mpg/highway rating while the GLE received a 19 mpg/city and 26 mpg/highway rating.
  • Available Towing: The GLC and GLE both offer plenty of towing power, but the GLE is stronger. With its optional tow hitch, the GLE has a maximum towing capability of 7,700 pounds, while the GLC can tow as much as 3,500 pounds.

GLC vs. GLE: Standard and Available Features

The GLC and GLE both offer Frankfort shoppers access to standard features like dual-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable front seats, and driver memory settings. The 2020 GLE, along with the 2019 A-Class and Sprinter, however, is one of the new vehicles in the Mercedes-Benz lineup equipped with Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX), which includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen, voice control, and touch-sensitive controls. MBUX isn’t yet available on the GLC.
